Love this! I’m not actually enjoying this season of White Lotus but I’m basically watching it for her at this point. Also that style moment for her with the glitter eye and oversized t shirt?! So good. I’m so sick of everyone on TV having perfect veneers, it’s lovely to see someone with some character in her face.

I loved that moment too! I saw a video on Instagram this week and the stylist said she wanted it to seem like Chelsea was picking bits up from the market as she went along. I thought that was lovely. And I agree, she has such a lovely face! XXX

I’ve been drawn in by Aimee Lou too! I love her in White Lotus - by far my favourite character and part of that is her absolute belief in herself and her values. Lovely article😊🙏

I have LOVED Aimee since Sex Education, where she is also phenomenal. Her storyline on that show is just so incredible and quickly turned her into my favourite character. I also have been telling people how refreshing it is to see someone like her as the popular and pretty girl. When I was a teenager diversity in terms of bodies and sizes was worse than it is now, but at least people had different faces. The Botox/plastic surgery discussion is a tricky one because while of course women should do what they want, I do think we need to ask ourselves to what extent it IS their individual choice if everyone around them is doing it and if the standards for women are so very different than for men. The fact that now everyone is starting to look the same is alarming and I do think we should address that issue. I can only hope that we’ll see more of Aimee and other actors who remind us that looking different is what makes us interesting!

People crave individuality so much right now with everyone starting to look the same.

You’ll love Aimee in Sex Education. She’s brilliant.

I agree with what you’re discussing in this post, but I think this must apply mostly to US television. I find that British TV (not their ‘reality TV’ to be clear) has always favoured talent over appearance. It’s entirely refreshing to see faces that move, and show signs of movement from many years of displaying emotions, as we humans tend to do.

She’s terrific in Sex Education, as is the entire cast. One of the few “coming of age” high school comedies that is not formulaic and is actually laugh out loud funny. It could have easily turned into an After School special, but avoided the traps. Gillian Anderson is also excellent as the protagonist’s sex therapist mom. Highly recommend.
